THE FIRST TIME we walked into Steve and Carolyn’s house, Rodney and I felt right at home. Twenty-five years later, we still feel that way.
Fireplace friends are those relationships where you can totally relax and find true warmth. This is what we have with Steve and Carolyn. They always greet us with open arms, embracing us with the genuine welcome that comes from true friendship. In their home, Rodney and I can kick off our shoes, raid their refrigerator, and curl up on the couch to talk, laugh, cry, pray, or just enjoy one another’s company. Together we have shared the birth of children and grandchildren, the loss of a parent, and Carolyn’s journey through breast cancer.
Today we extend a fireplace-friendship welcome to you, our cherished readers. The HomeLife team has been hard at work these past few months, getting our new home ready. (In the editorial world, this is known as a redesign.) We’ve used the equivalent of saws, hammers, and paintbrushes to give the magazine a special makeover. Now we get to open our freshly painted doors and remodeled rooms to you! Our desire is to warmly greet you each month with a magazine totally dedicated to helping you nurture a godly family. You’ll quickly see that the biblical foundation of HomeLife is stronger than ever. And we’ve added soothing color, breathing room, and a natural, relaxed flow that will encourage you to slip off your shoes and curl up on the couch with us to talk, laugh, cry, pray, and, most importantly, grow stronger spiritually.
Life is so much richer when shared with true friends. The HomeLife team takes great joy this month in greeting you with these words: “Welcome to the new HomeLife!”
