Go in the R i w g ht Direction
By Brenda Harris
life is filled with unexpected barricades, wrong turns, and roads that seem to lead nowhere. Whether it’s finding your way through a web of conflicting options or recovering from a string of bad decisions, life can be a challenging adventure — and you can feel totally lost.
God offers a foolproof way out of the chaos. He loves you and wants to give you new life and clear, new direction. One thing stands in the way: your sin. Sin separates you from God. But there is a way to remove the sin that has you continually facing dead ends.
Romans 3: 23 tells us, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Jesus, the perfect Son of God, willingly took the sins of the whole world — including yours — and died on the cross, making it possible for you to have your sins forgiven and to experience an eternity with Him.
The gift of salvation is available only through Jesus Christ. Romans 5: 8 declares, “But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us!”
This gift — new life and new direction — is available by faith alone. Ephesians 2: 8 explains, “For by grace you are saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is God’s gift — not from works, so that no one can boast.”
Faith is a decision of your heart, demonstrated by repentance. To repent means to stop going in one direction, to turn around completely, and to go the opposite way. It’s an action that requires a decision on your part. Romans 10: 9 affirms, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
If you’re choosing right now to believe Jesus died for your sins and to receive new life through Him, pray a prayer similar to this one: “Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died to forgive me of my sins. I now accept Your offer of eternal life. Thank You for forgiving me of all my sin. Thank You for my new life. From this day forward, I will choose to follow You.”
