Be honest. Do you conjure up happy memories when you contemplate the holidays — or does the mere thought of them exhaust you? If you answer with a despondent yes to the latter, then this is the year to start a new tradition: glorifying Christ by enjoying the holidays.
Peace and joy are available during the days ahead. You’ll just need vision and thoughtful determination.
Focus on what’s important. Linda Anderson, founder of Mom to Mom Ministries, shares, “Family holidays are much more fun if you keep a sharp focus on who you are, who your children are, and what you want them to remember. With children the process matters far more than the product. What does it matter if your cookies have jagged edges, as long as you are creating happy memories making them with your kids? It’s important to me that during the holidays my children remember the excitement of Jesus’ birth and resurrection, not a stressed-out, uptight, perfectionist mom.”
